Nach einem typischen Cactaceen-Fall (nach der charakteristischen Empfindung beurteilt), der dann durch Phytolacca geheilt wurde, einem Portulac-Gewächs aus der gleichen Unterklasse der Caryophyllidae, der auch die Kakteen angehören, entstand die Hypothese, daß die gesamte dritte Unterklasse eine ähnliche Empfindung haben könnte, wie die Cactaceae, so wie die gesamte zweite Unterklasse, die Hamamelidae, ebenfalls durch eine gemeinsame Empfindung charakterisiert werden können.
Dieser Fall wurde von Annette Sneevliet bei ihrem Kölner Seminar 2015 vorgestellt. Einen entsprechenden Fall soll auch Mahesh Gandhi für Rumex vorgestellt haben.
